Icelandic filmmaker Thordur Palsson has signed on to direct the upcoming film adaptation of the popular horror video game "Dead by Daylight." The project is based on Behaviour Interactive's asymmetrical multiplayer survival game, which has amassed a massive following since its release in 2016.
Palsson, known for his work on the horror film "The Damned," will bring the game's signature tension and cat-and-mouse gameplay to the big screen. In the game, four survivors attempt to escape a relentless killer by repairing generators and opening exit gates, while the killer hunts them down across various nightmarish maps. The game features a roster of original killers and survivors, as well as licensed characters from other horror franchises.
The adaptation has been in development for some time, with Blumhouse Productions previously attached. The film aims to capture the game's core dynamic of survival horror and strategic evasion. No casting announcements have been made yet, and a release date has not been set. The project is expected to begin pre-production later this year.
