Imagine Arkham City, but instead of blood-soaked concrete and gritty realism, you are dodging tiny plastic bats that drop studs everywhere. That is the closest description for the new LEGO Batman game that just landed, and I was genuinely stunned when I started playing. This is not the usual lighthearted, slapstick LEGO adventure we have seen for years. This one feels like a direct, loving parody of Rocksteady's dark masterpiece.

The game opens with Batman gliding over a sprawling, open-world Gotham. The camera angles, the combat rhythm, and even the detective vision are all there. But the twist is that everything is made of bricks. When you punch a thug, they do not just fall over. They explode into a shower of studs and spare parts. The voice acting mimics the gruff, serious tone of the original Arkham games, but the dialogue is absurd. Batman will stop mid-fight to complain about a missing 2x4 piece or step on a stray brick and yelp in pain.

The stealth sections are also a highlight. You hang from gargoyles, but the gargoyles are clearly just large LEGO statues that wobble. The predator rooms are filled with silly traps, like a giant rubber chicken that distracts enemies or a floor that can be pulled apart to drop goons into a pit of foam bricks. It is clearly made by people who love the Arkham series, but they are not afraid to make fun of its seriousness. If you ever wanted to see Batman solve a crime scene by building a tiny plastic coffee machine, this is your game.
