A resourceful modder known as Dung3onlord has discovered a surprisingly simple method for pulling 3D scenes straight out of PlayStation 5 games. The trick does not require any specialized hacking tools or custom firmware. Instead, it relies on a feature already built into most modern titles: Photo Mode.
The process is straightforward but demands patience. The user enters a game's photo mode and captures a large set of high-resolution screenshots from slightly different angles. By moving the virtual camera just a few degrees between each shot, they create a dense collection of images. These screenshots are then fed into photogrammetry software, which analyzes the overlapping pixels to reconstruct a full 3D model.
This technique works because photo mode often freezes the game world while allowing the camera to move freely. It gives the user complete control over the scene without any live gameplay interference. The result is a clean, detailed mesh that can be exported for use in other projects, like 3D printing or digital art.
The method is not perfect. It works best on static objects and environments. Moving characters or dynamic lighting can cause errors in the reconstruction. Still, it opens up a new path for fans who want to preserve game assets without breaking any rules. No jailbreak, no debug menus, just a camera and a lot of screenshots.
