3 Batman Video Games With Really Stupid Endings

Batman has starred in some of the best superhero games ever made, but not every story sticks the landing. A few titles, despite strong gameplay or promising setups, collapse into endings that feel rushed, illogical, or just plain insulting to the player. Here are three Batman games that fumbled the final act.

First is "Batman: Arkham Origins." The game builds up a tense Christmas Eve hunt for the assassin Black Mask, only to reveal that Black Mask was actually the Joker in disguise the whole time. It is a twist that undermines the entire premise. The player spends hours tracking a crime lord who never existed, and the real Black Mask is reduced to a background gag. The final boss fight against the Joker is also a tired rehash of the "Arkham Asylum" climax, making the ending feel like a copy-paste job.

Then there is "Gotham Knights." The game sets up a mystery around the Court of Owls, a secret society controlling Gotham. The ending, however, reveals that the big bad was a resurrected Ra's al Ghul, who was secretly manipulating everything. It is a classic bait-and-switch that discards the more interesting villains. Worse, the final confrontation is a bullet-sponge boss fight against a giant monster version of Ra's. The emotional payoff for the Bat-family's grief over Bruce Wayne's death is completely lost in a generic, explosion-heavy finale.

Finally, "Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League" takes the crown for the most baffling ending. After a whole game about killing brainwashed heroes, the final boss is a giant, floating Brainiac head. The player defeats it, but then a post-credits scene reveals that the Justice League members they killed were actually clones. This retroactively makes the entire story pointless. The player's actions had no real consequence, and the emotional weight of executing beloved characters is erased with a cheap retcon. It is the kind of ending that makes you wonder why the writers even bothered.
