The anticipated crossover between the worlds of Hitman and MindsEye has been officially canceled following the dissolution of the partnership between developer IO Interactive and the team at Build a Rocket Boy. The collaboration, which was set to bring Agent 47 into the MindsEye experience as downloadable content, has been completely scrapped.
This shift leaves Build a Rocket Boy, the studio founded by former Grand Theft Auto producer Leslie Benzies, with full and sole publishing control over the upcoming MindsEye project. The split appears amicable but decisive, with both companies confirming they will now focus entirely on their own respective future visions and intellectual properties.
For fans of IO Interactive's iconic assassin, this means the planned mission will not proceed. The specifics behind the partnership's end have not been disclosed, but the result is a clear change in direction for MindsEye. Build a Rocket Boy now moves forward independently, steering the project without the previously announced high-profile collaboration, while IO Interactive continues its work on the next Hitman title and its ambitious Project 007.
