The University of Nevada, Reno’s Esports Club successfully hosted its annual Break The Internet (BTI) gaming festival, a fourteen-hour marathon of competition and community. The event transformed the Joe Crowley Student Union ballrooms into a vibrant hub for gamers of all skill levels on March 14.
This year's gathering featured a packed schedule of open tournaments across popular titles, allowing both casual players and seasoned competitors to test their skills. Alongside the intense matches, the event offered free-play areas where attendees could relax and game with friends. A highlight for many was the special appearance by professional esports athletes, who participated in meet-and-greets, offered gameplay tips, and engaged in exhibition matches.
Organizers emphasized that BTI is designed to be more than just a tournament; it is a celebration of gaming culture and a cornerstone for building local community. The event provided a space for students and Reno-area residents to connect over shared interests, with many attendees praising the inclusive and energetic atmosphere. The club reported strong turnout, with participants immersing themselves in the full day of activities, from the first match to the final victory celebration. The event continues to solidify its reputation as a premier gaming destination within the region's collegiate esports scene.
