Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear Solid franchise redefined what a video game could be, blending stealth mechanics with cinematic storytelling and a healthy dose of philosophical weirdness. For players who have finished every mission with Solid Snake and are craving that same mix of tactical espionage and narrative depth, a few other titles scratch that specific itch.
First on the list is "Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory." This game nails the tension of sneaking through shadows. Sam Fisher is no Solid Snake, but the focus on light and sound, combined with a gritty, grounded story, delivers that high-stakes spy feeling. The level design rewards patience and observation, much like the best moments in MGS.
For those who love the over-the-top boss fights and complex lore, "Death Stranding" is Kojima's own spiritual successor. It trades traditional stealth for traversal and logistics, but the bizarre world-building, star-studded cast, and emotional core are pure Kojima. It is slower, but the payoff is immense for fans of his signature style.
"Hitman: World of Assassination" offers a different kind of stealth. Instead of a linear story, it gives you a sandbox. You study patrol routes, disguise yourself, and eliminate targets with creative flair. The freedom to plan and execute a perfect silent run mirrors the satisfaction of a no-alert MGS playthrough.
If you want the tactical squad action of "Metal Gear Solid V," "Ghost Recon: Breakpoint" in its immersive mode is a solid choice. It strips away the arcade elements for a more realistic stealth experience. Planning an approach, marking enemies, and coordinating with a team feels very close to the open-world missions of MGSV.
Finally, "Dishonored" blends stealth with supernatural powers. You play as a bodyguard framed for murder, navigating a plague-ridden city. The level design is vertical and open, letting you choose between lethal force and non-lethal ghost runs. The story adapts to your chaos level, giving each playthrough a unique feel, much like the moral choices in the Metal Gear series.
